This episode is, “Are You A Lifestyle Entrepreneur?” In this show we discuss A Stone* of Solutions™ including: 1. What is a lifestyle entrepreneur? “An individual that creates a business with the purpose of altering their personal lifestyle and not for the sole purpose of making profits. A lifestyle entrepreneur focuses more on the life rewards provided to people that enjoy and have a passion for what they are doing. There is a possibility that the business will do particularity well since the individual has a passion for what he/she is doing.” Read more: http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/lifestyle-entrepreneur.html#ixzz3KOgcoAWo 2. If you do not want to grow your business much bigger, you are. 3. If you are not planning to leave your business to anyone else, you are. 4. If you plan your business around your lifestyle instead of your lifestyle around your business, you are. 5. If your work is what you would do for free, you are. 6. If your work is an expression of who you are, you are. 7. If your work is highly tied to your individual talents, you are. 8. If you do not want to have investors, you are. 9. If you are content with your net profit right now and for the foreseeable future, you are. 10. Don’t Let Lifestyle Entrepreneurs Be a Dying Breed “Being called a lifestyle entrepreneur should be a point of pride, not an insult. The term applies to anyone who places passion before profit, and intends to combine personal interests and talent with the ability to earn a living. This usually means not taking money from equity investors, since investors want fast growth, high profits, and an exit event, to allow investments to be recouped.” http://www.forbes.com/sites/martinzwilling/2012/09/09/dont-let-lifestyle-entrepreneurs-be-a-dying-breed/ 11. If you never plan to retire because you are having too much fun, you are. 12. If you turn down investments in other vehicles because it will take too much of your time and/ be too stressful, you are. 13. If you think that all money is not “good money,” you are. 14. If you frustrate some bankers and / or financial advisors (don't you want more?!), you probably are. Lifestyle entrepreneurs sacrifice many things (prestige, a chance to be the biggest size firm in a market, etc.). Yet, for some, it is worth it to have a business built around their lifestyle! Please join this show to discuss whether you are one of the few! Lifestyle first, business second... *A stone is unit of measure equaling 14 pounds (so we have 14 elements in our one stone of solutions!). |
