In the USA, the criminal justice system overwhelming results in plea deals instead of trials (over 90% of the time on average). This episode walks you through your arrest, arraignment, bail, appearance settings, offers from prosecutors, moving your case on the calendar towards trial and the options in terms of fees and time involved in trial.
1) If you can afford (in terms of money and time) to go to trial, do so.
2) If you obtain the offer you initially wanted during the pretrial process, accept it. Don’t get mad at the government and think “I will show them who is in charge” by rejecting a plea offer that gives you the best outcome (pride goeth before a fall).
