This is Part 1 of a 3 part episode that I feel I need to do in order to address some of the myths, misunderstandings and misconceptions about the Professional Speaking industry. The target for this episode is “Professional Speakers earn $5,000 USD an hour and no education is needed!” (Part 1 of 3)
In part 1 of this 3 part episode, we focus on what the speaking industry actually is (I had never heard of it until I stumbled across it in an online job posting). Is it real? Is it a scam? Are there people who make a living as a “speaker”? If so, how? What are the requirements? Is a degree required? First, the speaking industry is one of the joys of my professional life. I am grateful that I was able to enter it and that I have been able to serve clients around the world while growing as a speaking professional and as a person. I have won awards, given hundreds of clients thousands of hours of speaking events and I have worked in the US, Canada, South Africa, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands and Mexico (just to name a few locations).
